don't fall in love with me yet
we only recently met
true i'm in love with you but
you might decide i'm a nut
give me a week or two to
go absolutely cuckoo
and when you see your error
then you can flee in terror
like everybody else does
i only tell you this 'cause
i'm easy to get rid of
but not if you fall in love
know now that i'm on the make
and if you make a mistake
my heart wil certainly break
i'll have to jump in a lake
and all my friends will blame you
there's no telling what they'll do
it's only fair to tell you
i'm absolutely cuckoo

Greetings from the Edge!
Yep! I chopped off my crazy locks! I've been wanting to do it forever! But kept getting talked out of it..ya know wait until after the wedding..
But then I got to thinking..why?! If this is me at the time I get married, then so be it? Why can't I have short hair? Why can't I be a little pixie on my wedding day? I love it! My new-do is so freeing, as I mentioned on my FB I feel this is all connected to my desire to express what is in my heart and thus a great weight as been lifted off my shoulders :)
Makings of a Hipster Wedding: Another Frame of Reference
As I continue on my journey to throw tradition upside down, I've made some other adjustments.. I would love to share these new revalations with you all, but alas I don't have pics yet.. For now I wanted to share with you some more pics that have sparked some inspiration for me this week. Again the whole link can be found at my favorite blog!
I'm starting to loose interest in the idea of a wedding cake..shocking? I love the idea of just coming up with the budget I would use for a wedding cake, and just buy different tasty treats, maybe make some(Granna's unite!) I'm just throwing that idea out there right now, I can definitely change my mind. As I type this sitting next to my darling child, her comments include "Love those cakes! Let's have one for breakfast!"
Debating going to a bridal show or going to a Swing Dance brunch. If I go to the bridal show I will take some pictures and let you all in on some new developments :)

Makings of a Hipster Wedding: Menu
We made an appointment with the caterer next week to lock down our menu. I'm still into the idea of small plates, and agree with Jack that we should just serve a couple varieties of small plates instead of a ton of options or fixed menu. I'm trying to combine the idea of the traditional menu options; chicken, fish, meat, vegetarian with more fun new ideas. We hired these guys to do the catering and I'm looking forward to locking down the food and also how it will be served to everyone.

Engagement Photos!
Hooray! Our fantastic photographer Rudolf Hrastovic did an outstanding job on our engagement photos! While it wasn't our intention to do engagement photos, I'm really glad we went through with the idea. Jack and I met Rudy down in Peninsula for the shots, we figured that we may not get the chance to take a lot of photos on the towpath come wedding day, so we decided to take advantage of it now.

Did I mention Folk Art? I believe I did...
A while back a wrote a email to my bridesmaids and told them I wanted folk art as the theme of my wedding. As I keep browsing wedding ideas, this wedding reminded me of that original vision.. So here we go I found my original theme and focus of this wedding! Folk Art..please check out the tissue paper flowers!
Makings of a Hipster Wedding: Colors and other Ideas..
My colors are: Tangerine, yellow, and light red.. I love the idea of using bottles and jars in all different shapes and sizes as flower holders. Also check out the photos hanging by the dessert table..what do you think? Great way to utilize the enagement photos and maybe include Jack's parents wedding photos and my parents..just a thought.
